There’s a lot of talk and debate about stem cells these days. However, not everyone knows what stems cells are, what they do, or why they’re so important.

I happen to be one of those less informed individuals so I thought I’d dig up some basic facts to help myself, and anyone else out there understand a bit more about stem cells.
Here’s what I found out:
Reader discretion is advised – I am not an expert and would invite any comments or corrections if I have posted incorrect information.
Fact #1: Stem cells are undifferentiated or unspecialized cells – OK… so what does that mean? As you already know, your body is made up of cells. Each cell in your body is programmed for a specific function or to be a certain cell type ( i.e. blood cells, muscle cells, liver, etc… ) However, stem cells are cells that have not yet been programmed for a specific function. In other words, stem cells have the potential to become any type of cell in your body.
Fact #2: Stem cells can differentiate or become specialized cell types.
Fact #3: Stem cells can self-multiply – As stem cells divide, they can divide into more stem cells or into specialized cells. Most cells in our bodies do not have the ability to divide as stem cells do. Stem cells are what make us grow and the means by which our bodies repair themselves.
Fact #4: Stem cells serve as an internal repair system – Stem cells can divide without limit, replenishing and replacing damaged or worn cell tissue throughout your body.
Fact #5: Specific nutrients can encourage the healthy growth and proliferation of stem cells in one’s body, thus promoting regeneration and healing. Many of these nutrients can be found in AIO Premium Cellular Health, a liquid stem cell supplement designed to optimize adult stem cell functions.
